Schneider offers three consumer-directed health care options to choose from that cover traditional medical and prescription expenses. Preventive care is covered 100% when you use network physicians. You will also receive discounted rates when choosing from over 420,000 in-network providers nationwide.
Dental Plan
Schneider offers a very competitive dental plan that includes free preventive care.
Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential short-term counseling and referral service that can help you and your family successfully deal with life’s challenges.
Dependent Care Spending Account
If you have children under age 13 or disabled /elderly dependents and incur daycare costs to enable you (and your spouse) to work, you may be able to pay daycare costs pre-tax through the Dependent Care Spending Account. Your tax savings can be significant.
Vision Plans
Quality vision care is important to your overall health care. Schneider recognizes this importance and offers two vision care plans. A free eye exam and discounts on eyewear for all associates and dependents, and an optional materials plan that is available at low group rates for an additional discount on glasses or contacts.
Health Care Spending Account
You can save money by using your health care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) in conjunction with the Definity Health medical plan. The health care FSA lets you put money aside from your paycheck to pay for certain health care expenses for you and your eligible dependents like your Member Responsibility and coinsurance. You may want to consider participating if you expect to have additional medical and prescription expenses you are responsible for.
In order to use your pre-tax FSA dollars for any eligible out-of-pocket expenses, submit your receipts through the health care FSA vendor, M&I Benefits Services using the FSA reimbursement request form. You will essentially be “paying yourself back” with pre-tax dollars. By contributing, you are also lowering your taxable income. This will help you save money on your income taxes as well.
Use It or Lose It Rule
Be sure to estimate your FSA contributions carefully. Contribute only the amount you expect to use. Federal law requires that if you do not use your entire health care FSA balance during the January 1, 2007, through March 15, 2008, plan year, you will lose any unused money in your account.
