Business Overview

Schneider National, Inc. is the leading provider of premium truckload and intermodal services. As North America's largest private truckload carrier, Schneider National moves freight and creates innovative transportation solutions that are designed to solve customers' transportation needs. This is accomplished through access to capacity from a large fleet of assets as well as partner carriers, the broadest portfolio of services in the industry, and leading technology. Learn more about how you can become apart of Schneider National’s trucking enterprise.

Operations

Schneider National was founded in 1935 and currently operates 14,000 tractors, 40,000 trailers, and has partnerships with over 6,000 carriers. Schneider drives more than five million loaded miles per day. We are utilized by two-thirds of the Fortune 500 companies. Schneider operates out of 36 locations in North America.

Commitment to Sustainability

Schneider National’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing the standard of living worldwide goes beyond the freight we move and manage. It includes a promise to conduct our business with the utmost respect for the world around us; to work in a way that meets the needs of the present without compromising future generations.

Some call that sustainability. We call it good business. Schneider National has been conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner long before it was en vogue to be green. Throughout our Enterprise, Schneider National is aggressively pursuing a sustainable future. We’re reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency and upgrading the energy efficiency of our facilities to reduce our carbon footprint.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership (a voluntary collaboration between the EPA and the freight industry to increase energy efficiency while striving to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution) recognizes Schneider’s Enterprise-wide commitment to the environment. All three of Schneider’s business sectors Truckload, Intermodal and Logistics) are SmartWay Transport members. Schneider is one of only two transportation providers to be selected each year for the SmartWay Award of Excellence (2006, 2007 and 2008).

ISO 9002 Certification

We are excited about achieving ISO 9002 certification, and view it as a significant step in our continuous improvement journey.

“We don't approach quality as an add-on - it's an everyday occurrence,"
Mark Gallert ISO QMS Director

Schneider National gained ISO 9002 certification on July 20, 1998. ISO 9000 is a series of international standards for quality assurance systems that has become part of being a world-class organization. Schneider completed the process in less than ten months, an extraordinary feat for a company of our size.

Benefits of the ISO certification process
Internal quality audits and ongoing continuous improvement system include:

    • Elimination of processing errors and process variation reduction
    • Training which better prepares associates for new roles
    • Documented work instructions to better reflect the work being done
    • Formal corrective/preventive action system
    • Consistent subcontractor qualification process
